Distinctive, benign vascular tumor

Epidemiology

- mostly sporadic
- rare familial occurence (11115185)

Microscopical synopsis

- biphasic growth pattern
- dilated vascular structures in the superficial dermis lined by prominent hobnail endothelial cells
- collagen dissecting, rather narrow neoplastic vessels in deeper parts of the lesion

Immunochemistry

- CD31 + (100%) (10472756)
- CD34 +/- (8%) (10472756)
- VEGFR-3 (50%) (10472756)
- D2-40+

Differential diagnosis

- cavernous lymphangioma
- lymphangioma circumscriptum
- retiform hemangioendothelioma
- progressive lymphangioma
- Dabska’s tumor
