Definition: Acute basophilic leukemia is rare type of acute myeloid leukemia.

Synopsis
Phenotype: cell stem origin basophilic precursor
Epidemiology: very rare but might be prominent in infants
Clinics:
- hyperhistaminemia syndrome
Cytology
major component of undifferentiated blasts
minor component of basophilic blasts
- blasts containing large granules reacting positively to toluidine blue staining
Prognosis
good response to standard therapy for chilhood ANLL
