desmoplastic trichoepithelioma

Synopsis

- Combination of microcysts and thin strands of basaloid epithelium wrapped by collagen
- Microcysts
- Foci of calcification (calcifeid keratin)
- Small strands of epithelium occasionally wrapped by small collagen fibers.
- The epithelial component resembles the mantle portion of the follicle.
- Other follicular constituents may be present.
- Possible clusters of ghost cells (as in pilomatricoma)
- Possible clusters of basaloid cells with fibroblastic stroma

Differential diagnosis

- sclerosing epithelial neoplasms

- ghost cell cutaneous tumors
