subcutaneous granuloma annulare

pseudorheumatoid nodule

Synopsis

- located in the deep dermis, subcutis and rarely deep soft tissue
- area of necrobiosis larger than the superficial type of granuloma annulare
- granulation tissue
- +/- lymphoid aggregates near palisaded granuloma
- eosinophils more common

Differential diagnosis

- rheumatoid nodule

  • necrobiotic foci contain abundant fibrin
  • +/- degenerated bundles of collagen
  • palisade of elongated histiocytes
