cervical mullerian adenosarcoma

Synopsis

- cervical polyp
- benign glands with a sarcomatous stroma

  • periglandular cuffs of increased cellularity
    - sarcomatous stroma
  • heterologous elements: striated muscle, lipoblasts, and cartilage
  • +/- sarcomatous overgrowth of stromal elements
  • high mitotic rate

Differential dianosis

- cervical mullerian adenofibroma

  • slit-like glands surrounded by a stroma with fibrosis
  • low mitotic rate

- cervical botryoid tumors

  • embryonal rhabdomysarcoma (sarcoma botryoides)

- cervical malignant mesodermal tumor
- cervical carcinosarcoma
