aortic bodies

Aortic bodies, as carotid bodies, are chemoreceptors specialized to detect changes in the blood pH and oxygen tension. Their cells are usually chromaffin-negative and tumors arising from these structures are usually non functionnal.

- aortic body paraganglioma (chemodectoma, nonchromaffin paraganglioma)
