- infectious

  • hematogenous
  • local inoculation

Synopsis

- periosteal reaction

  • sleeve of reactive bone (involucrum)
  • periosteal elevation
  • new bone formation

- isolated necrotic medullary bone in large cavity (sequestrum)

- pus formation
- marrow space filled with acute inflammatory cells

- osseous destruction (destruction of the bone)
- osseous necrosis

  • necrotic bone
  • necrotic bone marrow

- fibrinous exsudate
