Kasabach-Merritt syndrome

consumptive coagulopathy

Definition: Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon (KMP) is characterized by profound thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, a consumptive coagulopathy, and an enlarging vascular lesion.

Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon is a serious coagulopathy associated with kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE), tufted angioma, and possibly other vascular neoplasms.
