osteosarcoma of the foot
27 January 2011The incidence of osteosarcoma of the foot is very low. It appears to affect older patients and the calcaneus is a common site.

giant cell rich parosteal osteosarcoma
25 November 2010Synopsis
parosteal osteosarcoma
large numbers of osteoclast-like giant cells
fibro-osseous background
islands of immature bone
neoplastic bone lacking osteoblastic rimming
no spatial relationship between the giant cells and areas of haemorrhage
Cytogenetics
telomeric associations
Differential diagnosis
Parosteal osteosarcoma may, on histological appearances, hardly be recognizable as malignant. In addition, unusual changes such as abundant giant cells may be misleading in (...) -
osseous PEComa
18 November 2010PEComa in bone
PEComas other than angiomyolipoma, lymphangioleiomyomatosis, and clear cell sugar tumor of the lung are relatively rare, and PEComas presenting in bone are especially rare.
Both the primary and metastatic PEComas can present in bone, although both are rare.
It may be suggested that primary PEComa of bone tends to involve lower extremities.
Histologically, they show similar cytomorphology, nested architecture, and characteristic vessels as PEComas at other sites.
