Definition : The inguinal canals are the two passages in the anterior abdominal wall which in males convey the spermatic cords and in females the round ligament of the uterus. The inguinal canals are larger and more prominent in males. There is one inguinal canal on each side of the midline.

abdominal neurenteric cyst
6 June 2011Definition: Neurenteric cysts are extremely rare congenital anomalies, often presenting in the first 5 years of life, and are caused by an incomplete separation of the notochord from the foregut during the third week of embryogenesis.
They are frequently accompanied with spinal or gastrointestinal abnormalities, but the latter may be absent in adults.
Although usually located in the thorax, neurenteric cysts may be found along the entire spine.

Mullerian cyst of the upper abdomen
23 June 2010Mullerian cysts are rare retroperitoneal lesions, the majority of which occur in women.
Most develop in the pelvis but a few involve the upper abdomen, manifesting as a mass at the tail of the pancreas.
The cysts are large and often displace adjacent organs. Precise preoperative diagnosis is seldom possible.
Surgical excision is curative, but many cysts are multilocular and may recur if removal is incomplete.
