BCCC is currently regarded as an uncommon clinicopathological entity.
In 1950, Martin et al. reviewed 250 cases of BCCC, of which the majority represented metastatic head and neck primary cancers resulting from an absence of long-term follow-up.

Management
Pediatric neck abscesses remain common problems that are sometimes difficult to manage.
Surgical excision of infected nodes is recommended for immunocompetent children with suppurative adenitis secondary to Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) and Mycobacterium scrofulaceum.
The temptation is great to incise and drain the abscess cavity when fluctuant involvement is present.

idiopathic cervical fibrosis
15 November 2010Definition: Idiopathic cervical fibrosis is a rare tumefactive inflammatory-sclerosing lesion involving the soft tissues of the head and neck.
A proportion of patients also have synchronous or metachronous inflammatory fibrosclerosing lesions in other anatomic sites. The latter finding suggests that this entity may represent a member of IgG4-related sclerosing diseases.
