  Thymocytes are immature T lymphocytes with varying degrees of maturation. They commonly are encountered in the study of anterior mediastinal masses and often are a significant component of hyperplastic thymus or lymphocyte-rich thymoma (type B1).

  Definition
  Type B3 thymoma is a thymic epithelial tumor composed predominantly of sheets of moderately atypical polygonal epithelial cells intermingled with a few non-neoplastic immature T-cells.
  Type B3 thymoma accounts for between 10-25% of all thymomas and are frequently associated with myasthenia gravis.

  Definition: Type B2 thymoma is composed of clusters of neoplastic epithelial cells in a background of abundant immature T-cells.
