renal interstitial edema

Definition: Increased interstitial space with loose appearance and normal thickness tubular basement membranes is generally due to edema.

Differential diagnosis

- renal interstitial fibrosis

  • renal tubules are widely spaced with intervening dense, fibrotic tissue, and TBMs are thick and fibrotic.
