Villins (VILs: VIL1 and VIL2) are a major structural component of the brush border cytoskeleton.
VIL1 is a calcium-regulated, actin-binding protein of molecular weight 95,000. VIL1 is specifically expressed in simple epithelia of some tissues of the gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts.
