TNFSF11

HGNC:11926 13q14 MIM.602642

Significant advances in bone biology have been made, including the discovery of RANK, RANK ligand (RANKL), and OPG as the key determinants of osteoclastogenesis.

Osteoclasts play an essential role in normal bone remodeling and are co-opted in cancer, functioning as part of the reactive bone microenvironment in metastatic dissemination and causing the skeletal morbidities experienced by patients with bone metastases or multiple myeloma.
