cardiogenic shock

Cardiogenic shock results from myocardial pump failure. This may be caused by intrinsic myocardial damage (myocardial infarction), ventricular arrhythmias, extrinsic compression (e.g. cardiac tamponade), or outflow obstruction (e.g. pulmonary embolism).
