- JRC:18921 : Primary hyperplasia (Graves’ disease) with moderate involution.

Etiology

- autoimmune hyperthyroidism (Graves hyperthyroidism, diffuse toxic goiter)
- nodular thyroid disease

  • toxic nodular goiter
  • toxic nodule (toxic adenoma, toxic carcinoma)

- subacute thyroiditis
- central hyperthyroidism
- gestational trophoblastic disease
- iodine-induced hyperthyroidism
- painless thyroiditis
- struma ovarii
- rapidly growing tumors in the thyroid
- exogenous thyroid hormone intake
- ectopic production of TSH and TRH
- resistance to thyroid hormone
