The normal ossification of the carpus occurs after birth.
Hyperechogenicity of the carpus is abnormal in utero and suggests the presence of abnormal calcifications or ossifications.

Etiology

- warfarin exposition
- chondrodysplasia punctata
- Zellweger syndrome
- alcohol fetopathy
