Tubular epithelium mistosis in acute tubular necrosis
Synopsis
sloughing off of renal tubular cells
flattened and regenerating epithelium
- Tubular necrosis can occur in isolation, or with associated glomerular necrosis (the combination is called cortical necrosis)
Etiology
renal ischemia (often zones of injury)
- endotoxinic shock
toxics (individual cell injury / blebbing / degeneration / apoptosis)
- mycotoxins
