Major constituents
laminins
collagen IV
perlecan
nidogen
Basement membranes and cancer
Basement membranes can be a barrier to tumour growth, but basement membrane molecules, including laminins, are also important autocrine factors produced by cancers to promote tumorigenesis.
Pathology
basement membrane thickening
