Synopsis
benign ovarian cystic tumors
75% unilateral / 25% bilateral
smooth glistening cyst wall
papillary tumors have papillary projections on outer surface or protruding into cystic cavity
single layer of tall, columnar, ciliated cells resembling normal tubal epithelium;
stroma contains spindly fibroblasts;
no atypia
no architectural complexity
no invasion
Differential diagnosis
rete cystadenoma: located in ovarian hilus , undulating epithelium , smooth muscle wall
