Macroscopy

- ovarian cyst
- clear mucinous fluid
- inner cystic wall smooth with no evidence of protruding or polypoid lesions
- thickness of cystic wall from 0.2 to 2 cm.

Microscopy

- uniform columnar mucinous cystic epithelial lining
- no evidence of cellular atypia
- vascular congestion in the cystic wall
- patchy fibrosis in the cystic wall
- The residual ovarian parenchyma (thickened cystic wall) is largely edematous with a few scattered hilus cells.
- No evidence of invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma.
