Macroscopy
ovarian cyst
clear mucinous fluid
inner cystic wall smooth with no evidence of protruding or polypoid lesions
thickness of cystic wall from 0.2 to 2 cm.
Microscopy
uniform columnar mucinous cystic epithelial lining
no evidence of cellular atypia
vascular congestion in the cystic wall
patchy fibrosis in the cystic wall
The residual ovarian parenchyma (thickened cystic wall) is largely edematous with a few scattered hilus cells.
No evidence of invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma.
