- expansion of red pulp

  • immunoblastic proliferation in red pulp
    • Immunoblasts may have strikingly atypical morphology, resemble Reed-Sternberg cells
    • immunoblastic infiltration of subintima of intratrabecular veins
    • Immunoblasts are positive for B and T cell markers, EBV by in situ hybridization, variable CD30

- red pulp hemophagocytosis

Differential diagnosis

- Hodgkin lymphoma
- splenic localization of leukemia
- splenic lymphomas
