composite adrenal medullary neoplasms; Composite adrenal pheochromocytoma; composite adrenal medullary tumors
Definition: Composite adrenal medullary tumors is a rare adrenal tumor composed of ordinary pheochromocytoma and other components, most frequently neuroblastic elements.
Little is known about its biologic potential, therefore creating a clinical dilemma on diagnosis.
Composite pheochromocytoma may be regarded as a histologic variant of classic pheochromocytoma.
Composite adrenal medullary neoplasms are rare entities that are composed in part of a pheochromocytoma, one of the three patterns of the neuroblastic tumors or a peripheral nerve sheath neoplasm.
Most of these tumors have been reported in adults, but have been infre-quently observed in children.
