A chronic infectious mononucleosis-like illness caused by Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) is called ‘chronic active EBV disease’, which is defined as an EBV-associated lymphoproliferative disease.

This lymphoproliferative disease is rare and predominantly occurs in Japanese children.

Pathology
