changes in atmospheric pressure

Monday 23 March 2009

Depending on the direction of change (increase or decrease) in atmospheric pressure, its rate of development, and the magnitude of change, four syndromes can be produced:

- high-altitude illness
- blast injury
- decompression disease-also known as caisson disease-which is sometimes referred to as barotrauma.
