HLA-G
MIM.142871 6p21.3
HLA-G is a nonclassic, class I HLA molecule that has important immunomodulatory properties.
HLA-G is an asthma-susceptibility gene. The risk of asthma in a child was determined by both the child’s HLA-G genotype and the mother’s affection status.
A SNP in the 3’ untranslated region of HLA-G influences the targeting of three microRNAs (miRNAs) to this gene. Allele-specific targeting of these miRNAs could accounts, at least in part, in the link between HLA-G and the risk of asthma.
