Highly phagocytic cells of the mononuclear phagocyte family.

Anomalies

- erythrophagocytosis
- sickle red cells
- lipofuscin deposits
- hemosiderin deposits (hemosiderosis)
-  bile deposits (bile-laden Kupffer cells)
- Kupffer cell hyperplasia
- enlargement (Kupffer cell hypertrophia)
- vacuolated Kuppfer cells
