bacterial lung infections in cystic fibrosis
Although lung disease in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients develops with age, bacterial colonization of the airways may occur as early as 1 or 2 months of age.
Common opportunistic pulmonary infections in CF :
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Haemophilus influenzae
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Burkholderia cepacia
