cANCA: diffuse cytoplasmic staining by immunofluorescence
- serine proteinase-3 (PR3) is the predominant antigen for C-ANCA
- Wegener granulomatosis (80-95%)
pANCA: perinuclear staining
- P-ANCAs are usually directed against myeloperoxidase (MPO)
- Wegener granulomatosis (5-20%)
- microscopic polyangiitis ++
atypical pattern
- inflammatory bowel disease
- systemic immune-mediated diseases
- infections
