Lymphogranuloma venereum is a sexually transmitted disease and is caused by certain immunotypes of Chlamydia trachomatis.

proctitis
rectitis
- follicular lymphohistiocytic-plasmacytic infiltration in the submucosa, muscularis propria, and serosa
- neuromatous hyperplasia in the submucosal and myenteric plexuses
- extensive thickening and fibrosis of the bowel wall
