Morphogen gradients play a pivotal role in most phases of developmental patterning. To ensure proper patterning, reproducible gradients are established under diverse environmental conditions and genetic backgrounds. Buffer fluctuations in gene dosage or environmental conditions are reffered as 'robustness'.
