Distinctive, benign vascular tumor

Epidemiology:

-  mostly sporadic
-  rare familial occurence (#11115185#)

Microscopical synopsis:

-  biphasic growth pattern
-  dilated vascular structures in the superficial dermis lined by prominent hobnail endothelial cells
-  collagen dissecting, rather narrow neoplastic vessels in deeper parts of the lesion

Immunochemistry:

-  CD31 + (100%) (#10472756#)
-  CD34 +/- (8%) (#10472756#)
-  VEGFR-3 (50%) (#10472756#)

Differential diagnosis:

-  cavernous lymphangioma
-  lymphangioma circumscriptum
-  retiform hemangioendothelioma
-  progressive lymphangioma
-  Dabska's tumor
