BRCA2-mutated prostatic adenocarcinoma
18 January 2017BRCA2-associated prostate cancer; BRCA2-mutant prostatic adenocarcinoma
Phenotype
IDCP : intraductal carcinoma of the prostate
Associations :
high-grade tumor
large tumor volume
poor clinical outcome
The carrier rate of germline BRCA1/2 and ATM mutation was ∼5-fold higher in lethal prostate cancer patients than in localized prostate cancer patients. doi:10.1016/j.eururo.2016.11.033.
Mutation carriers of BRCA1/2 and ATM are associated with earlier age at death and shorter (...) -

prostatic microcystic adenocarcinoma
8 December 2016Microcystic adenocarcinoma is characterized by cystic dilatation and rounded expansion of glands of usual acinar adenocarcinoma, with a flat luminal lining layer.
It represents a form of atrophic and/or pseudohyperplastic variants. The incidence in adenocarcinomas in whole prostate glands is approximately 11%.
Microscopically, the mean glandular size of microcystic adenocarcinoma is 10-fold greater than that of usual small acinar adenocarcinoma. Intraluminal crystalloids and intraluminal (...) -
prostatic clear cell adenocarcinoma
8 December 2016prostate clear cell adenocarcinoma PO
There are single case reports of renal-type clear cell carcinoma, tubulocystic clear cell adenocarcinoma of the prostate, and clear cell adenocarcinoma resembling Mullerian/urethral adenocarcinoma arising in the prostatic utricle.
Microscopy
tubulocystic and papillary glands lined by glycogen-rich, cuboidal or hobnail cells with clear to eosinophilic cytoplasm
enlarged nuclei with mild pleomorphism and prominent nucleoli
may have prominent (...) -

central zone (CZ) This zone surrounds the (...) -
prostatic pleomorphic giant cell adenocarcinoma
8 December 2016This is an exceptionally rare variant of adenocarcinoma with giant pleomorphic nuclei (Figure 12).10,11 Fewer than 10 cases have been reported. In the largest series of six cases, patients ranged in age from 59 to 76 years.11 Admixed Gleason score 9 usual adenocarcinoma was seen in all cases. There was variable immunopositivity for PSA in bizarre giant cells. The disease course is very aggressive.
Histological variants of prostatic carcinoma and their significance. Humphrey PA. (...)
