Group A streptococci, although considered extracellular pathogens, are capable of causing severe life-threatening invasive infections.

Types

- streptococcal invasive diseases

  • streptococcal fasciitis
  • streptococcal bacteraemia (septicemia)
  • streptococcal toxic-shock-like syndrome
