Clinicobiological syndrome associated with hepatic insufficiency and massive hepatocytic necrosis.

Etiology

- fulminant infectious hepatitis

- fulminant drug-induced hepatitis (14.2%)

  • reversible valproate fulminant hepatic failure
  • tolcapone-related fulminant hepatitis
  • flutamide-associated acute liver failure

- fulminant dysimmune hepatitis

  • fulminant auto-immune hepatitis

- metabolic fulminant hepatitis

- drug-induced fulminant hepatitis (drug-induced active liver failure)

Animal models

- Fas-mediated fulminant hepatitis in mice (TNFRSF6)
