Keratoacanthomatous atypical squamous proliferations arising in skin graft sites
Synopsis
large, well differentiated squamous tumor
central keratin filled crater / invaginating crateriform tumor
Surrounding epidermis forms a lip around the invaginating crateriform tumor
Tumor is composed of bland squamous cells with :
- abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm or glassy cytoplasm
- enlarged nuclei , hyperchromatic nuclei to vesicular nuclei
mitotic activity and cellular atypia are usually seen at the periphery of tumor
intraepidermal neutrophilic microabscesses
keratin horn pearls
Regressing tumors show :
epidermal atrophy
bland cells / bland cytologic features
dermal inflammation
peripheral fibrosis / fibrosis at the periphery of tumor
Localization
Digital cases
UI:915 : Keratoacanthoma.
JRC:10547 : Keratoacanthoma.
