Microscopical synopsis:

- portal infiltration by mononuclear cells (mainly lymphocytes)
- steatosis
- focal hepatocyte necrosis
- lobular inflammation
- enlarged Kupffer’s cells
- Kupffer’s cells hyperplasia
- small lobular granulomatoid clusters
- lobular macrophages aggregates
- lobular lymphocytes aggregates

Etiology:

- infections, sepsis
- inflammatory diseases
- gastrointestinal diseases
- pancreatic diseases

Differential diagnosis:

- resolving acute hepatitis
- mild chronic persistent hepatis
- chronic lobular hepatitis
