Definition: In mucinous metaplasia, the endometrial mucosa becomes morphologically and biochemically similar to endocervical mucosa.
The differential diagnosis includes mucinous type of endometrial adenocarcinoma.
Mucinous metaplasia has basally located nuclei which lack atypia.
