lacteal cyst or milk cyst


Definition: A galactocele is a retention cyst containing milk or a milky substance that is usually located in the mammary glands. They occur in women during or shortly after lactation.

- Galactocele. Epithelial-lined cysts with proteinaceous/fat debris, foamy macrophages.

- Dilated, anastomosing, epithelium lined channels, often with secretory activity.
- Cyst contents may leak into adjacent tissue and cause lipogranulomatous reaction with foamy macrophages (J Cutan Pathol 2010;37:973)
