Prostatic Adenocarcinoma - Extraprostatic Extension
The presence of cancer within skeletal muscle fibers is not diagnostic of EPE since skeletal muscle fibers often extend into the peripheral portion of the prostate anteriorly and apically.
Similarly, the presence of tumor adjacent to pigmented epithelium in a biopsy does not equate to EPE unless the biopsy is specified as coming from seminal vesicle.
Cancer invading ejaculatory duct may appear similar in a biopsy sample.
