Definition: Mammary granular cell tumor of breast is a rare and usually benign tumor originating from Schwann cells.

Macroscopy

- Granular cell tumor has firm consistency and irregular borders.

  • This aspect can strongly suggests a carcinoma.

Microscopy

- Tumor cells have abundant eosinophilic, granular cytoplasm.

  • It can simulate infiltrating ductal carcinoma with apocrine metaplasia.
    - Tumor cells form clusters and proliferate between collagen bundles.
