Wednesday 3 September 2008

Short telomeres have been seen in subpopulations of patients with dyskeratosis congenita, aplastic anemia, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria and Fanconi’s anemia (fanconi disease), suggesting that short telomeres of circulating leukocytes may be a marker of progenitor cell depletion in sporadic cases of several bone marrow failure syndromes.
