mediastinal desmoid fibromatosis
Desmoid tumor of the anterior or posterior mediastinum is very rare. Desmoid tumors grow infiltratively and the recurrence rate after operation is high.
Localization
mostly, posterior mediastinum (16285595, 15143411)
possible, anterior mediastinum (8188925)
possible invasion of the great vessels (12467833)
Synopsis
* proliferation of spindle shape cells with collagen fibers * no cytologic atypia * no mitotic figures * tumor cells positive for alpha smooth muscle actin-positive, vimentin-positive and negative for CD34
