duodenal FAP

In familial adenomatous polyposis, the prevalence of the mainly periampullary located adenomas varies from 50% to more than 90%.

The prevalence of duodenal carcinoma in patients with FAP is 2% to 5% and, compared with the general population, the relative risk of duodenal adenocarcinoma is exceptionally high.

Together with desmoid tumors, duodenal carcinomas are now the leading causes of cancer-related mortality in FAP.
