del(6q)

6q-, 6q deletion

Deletion of the long arm of chromosome 6 (del(6q)) is more frequently described in lymphoid proliferations than in other hematological malignancies.

Regions

- deletions are mainly reported to be terminal, but also interstitial (6q11-14)

Tumors

- acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)

- chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)

  • atypical chronic lymphocytic leukemia

- prolymphocytic leukemia
- multiple myeloma (15%)
- non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) (15% cases)

- various cancers
